Alcohol is the most widely used recreational drug in Australia. No matter how old you are and regardless of whether you drink alcohol, it's important to be aware of how alcohol affects people and learn ways to minimise the risks associated with drinking from a young age. Our learning plan is based around this and is intended to focus on those students who are at the beginning of their teenage youth. We believe that most year 8/9 students these days are gradually binge exposed to such drugs and with acknowledgement of this we intend to  facilitate them with practical knowledge that they can implement out of school to achieve some form of harm minimisation.

It's important for today's youth to have the right information about alcohol to help them make informed decisions about whether they drink alcohol or not. If you choose to drink alcohol, it's paramount to know how to use it in a safe and responsible manner.

The aim is for students to gather a competent understanding on the ramifications of excessive use, it's effects on the body and how to be responsible if incorporating alcohol into their life, whether they are past users or not. The students will view a number of alcohol advertisements and gain an understanding of what makes a good quality alcohol advertisement before using this knowledge to make their own advertisement.
