Make Your Own Lunch Box - Slam Dunk Lesson

Students need to eat a variety of foods everyday to stay healthy. Therefore it is important for students to pack their lunch boxes with plenty of brain foods that are good for them, giving them plenty of energy and tasting great as well! This lesson is aimed primary year levels, allowing them to gain knowledge about nutrition and health to help them select a healthy lunch everyday. My slam dunk lesson is aimed at students in years 5/6 in the Adelaide Hills area, though it can be adapted for other areas. It focuses on bushfire prevention, safety and preparation. The activities are an initial question sheet, where the students have to navigate their way around the website to find answers, and then also to create a poster that shows what they have learnt.

To Be or Not to Be?:  An introduction to Shakespeare and Elizabethan times.

A slam dunk lesson aimed at years 9/10 as an introduction to Shakespeare.  The lesson introduces students to the culture of the Elizabethan Era and requires them to recognise changes between these times and the present.  It also introduces students to Shakespeare's plays and allows them to draw links as to why certain events in Shakespeare's plays were linked to society in the times they were written.

This Slam Dunk Lesson is aimed at middle primary (year 4) students, and examines the internal organs of the human body, and how they work. Students are required to research various organs, learn how they function, and display what they have learnt in various formats.

What makes a good fitness program for soccer players?

This Slam Dunk Lesson features a step-by-step guide to producing a fitness program for a soccer team the student has recently become coach of. It identifies the energy systems needed, the games involved and the ways in which a coach can build a lesson plan from scratch. The lesson also researches nutrition, based on the foods a soccer player must eat. It is aimed at secondary school level.

Students need to eat a variety of foods everyday to stay healthy. Therefore is is important for students to pack their lunch boxes with plenty of brain foods that are good for them, giving them plenty of energy and tasting great as well! This lesson is aimed at Primary Year levels allowing them to explore the healthy variety of foods we need in our daily lifes. It is a lesson which allows the students to enjoy building their own lunch-box at the same time of understanding what are the right/wrong brain foods to eat. The lesson also allows the students to explore ways of building a healthy sandwich at the same time of understanding the healthy food pyramid.
