Unit Outline and Rationale:

Our intergrated learning plan is 'How can we maintain a healthy lifestyle', and is aimed at year 6 and 7 students in the subject area of health and physical education. We decided on doing the plan on this subject because we believe that students need to be educated on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle through their schooling career and later lives. Australia has been found to be one of the most unhealthy nations in the world, educating our students in maintaining a healthy lifestyle is the first step to rectifying the problem.  Therefore, this unit was developed using the Kath Murdoch inquiry learning model to ensure that other relevant skills and issues were investigated that involved students in substantive conversation, higher order thinking, deep and problematic knowledge.  Thus, this unit was designed using a Backwards by Design approach (Wiggins & McTighe) incorporating the elements Quality Teaching Framework.

There are 4 parts to this unit plan:

Stage 1: Overview and Desired Results

This document outlines what is worthy of understanding in the intergrated learning unit. This includes the overarching question, links to SACSA, resources, enduring understandings, essential questions and knowledge and skills that at the end of the unit, students will know and be able to do.

Stage 2(a): Determine Acceptable Evidence
