Integrated Unit Plan Outline

The Year 6/7unit of work is entitled 'What does it Mean to be Australian?' and encompasses three curriculum areas; SOSE, English and Arts. The Year 6/7 students have prior knowledge in using Edublogs and Moodle as they have been incorporated as part of the school's IT focus over the past couple of years. More recently students have been introduced to the ICT tools Photostory, Podcasting (through Garage Band) and Voki in the previous term. Within this unit of work, What does it mean to be Australian?, students will be introduced to two new ICT tools; ActivExpression and an online Comic Strip program, Pixton.

This unit of work focuses on the identity of Australia and allows students to address Australia's identity (lifestyle, beliefs and values, climate and society) and how these contribute to their own personal identity as an Australian. Exploring their own identity, students will come to appreciate, value and respect the identity of fellow students and of the broader community.
