Welcome to the world of Plants!
Our integrated learning plan is titled “How do living things survive?” The unit has been designed for Year 2 students and involves student investigations of the fundamental aspects involved in plant life and growth. Students use a variety of mediums to gather information and develop their knowledge of the internal and external features of living plants in order to gain a greater understanding of the relationships between the stages and processes in the plant life cycle.
There are 4 parts to the integrated learning unit. STAGE ONE: How do living things survive? This document outlines what is worthy of understanding in the intergrated learning unit. This includes the overarching question, links to SACSA, resources, enduring understandings, essential questions and knowledge and skills that at the end of the unit, students will know and be able to do.
STAGE 2a: Student's understanding This document outlines the evidence of what will be gathered to determine students' understanding.
STAGE 2b: Assessment task part one Assessment task part two These documents detail the culminating assessment task for students including explicit quality criteria set out in an assessment rubric.. Also included is a self assessment of the quality of the assessment task based on the QT framework.
STAGE 3: Sequence of learning activities This document describes the sequence of learning activities that will enable students to achieve their desired results.
STAGE 4a: Web 2.0 tool lesson plan This document details one lesson of the intergrated learning unit that incorporates a web 2.0 tool and a smartboard. STAGE 4b: Learning object lesson plan This document details one lesson of the intergrated learning unit that incorporates a learning object.
