Back to units of work
Hello My name is Scott Mcculloch and i am doing a Bachelor of Education/Bachelor of Arts and am completing my third year of study out of the four years now. My major topic is legal studies and my minor is computer science. I like these two topics and i have found they are an interesting combination and have taught me very different learning theories and skills. I have chosen to do my topic on something different however, i am basing my unit on the rain forest because it is something i have not done before and have relished the chance to firstly research the topic and then plan this unit. |
Integrated Learning Plan
"Are we destroying the worlds lungs?"
The big question is "Are we destroying the worlds lungs?" and will be incorporated into Design + Technology and Society and Environment and there is 14 Society and Environment lessons and 7 Design and Technology lessons needed for this unit of work.
Rationale With rain forests being destroyed and logged around the world to provide wood and more farming land it is vital to raise awareness and show students that the rainforests are important. The term "the Amazon is the lungs of Earth" is a common phrase and will be used to engage students and to provide a relevant example of how important the rain forest is. I also hope to allow students to research an agency that is designed to protect the rain forest. The use of ICT as a learning tool is also important and this topic allows ICT to support learning not as the learning itself. Actually defining what a rain forest is and the diversity of life supported by rain forests is also crucial for students to understand.
