This unit allows students to inquire into sustaining the environment, with particular focus on the impact humans make through outdoor educational activities such as; camping, bushwalking, rock-climbing, canoeing etc. Students will be working on the right and wrong environmental practices and developing scenarios to help encourage others in helping to sustain the environment. This unit has been designed for year 5 students. I decided to chose this topic to inquire into as I have recently taken part in a 14 day outdoor education camp and during this noticed how important it is to treat this beautiful environment appropriately. These children are the future and it is important for them to understand the importance and such a young age so they can begin to appreciate the environment at an early age and not take it for granted. It is just as important for them to become aware of the part they play and how if they change their behaviour with the environment in small ways they will see such big changes. This unit has been seperated into four sections: Stage 1 - Unit Overview and Desired Outcomes. Stage 2 - Acceptable Evidence of Knowledge. Stage 3 - The Learning Plan. Stage 4a - Individual Lesson Plan. Stage 4b - Individual Lesson Plan. Last Modified 11/12/09 5:37 PM |
